Analysis
EXAM ANALYSIS
Here is a complete, exam-oriented analysis of OICL AO Prelims 2026 (based on the latest exam cycle) so you can predict pattern, difficulty, and expected cutoffs for the upcoming 2026/next cycle.
Last Conducted Exam (Latest Reference)
The most recent OICL AO Prelims exam was conducted on 10 January 2026.
It was held in multiple shifts (generally 2–3 shifts) across the day in online mode, which is standard for insurance exams.
Typical timing pattern (based on admit cards and past cycles):
Morning shift: around 9 AM to 10 AM
Afternoon shift: around 1 PM to 2 PM
Evening shift: around 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM
Each candidate gets a separate reporting time, usually 60–90 minutes before the exam.
Important: Difficulty varies slightly across shifts, so normalization is applied.
Exam Pattern (Confirmed Structure)
The exam follows a fixed structure with sectional timing:
Total duration: 60 minutes
Three sections: Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English
Each section has 20 minutes fixed time
Total questions: 100
Total marks: 100
Negative marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer
Overall Difficulty Level (2026 Exam)
The overall paper was easy to moderate.
Easier than SBI PO Prelims
Slightly comparable to IBPS PO (but a bit more scoring)
The real challenge was time pressure, not conceptual difficulty
Section-wise Analysis
Reasoning Ability
This section was moderate in difficulty, mainly due to puzzles.
Most questions came from:
Seating arrangement and puzzles (dominant portion)
Syllogism (new pattern)
Inequality
Coding-decoding
Blood relation
The puzzles were time-consuming rather than difficult, meaning students struggled with speed.
Safe attempt range: about mid-20s
Key challenge: time management
Quantitative Aptitude
This was the toughest section of the paper.
Questions were focused on:
Data Interpretation (major share, often calculative)
Arithmetic (profit & loss, time & work, ratio, SI/CI)
Simplification/approximation
The DI sets required calculation speed and accuracy, which slowed down attempts.
Safe attempt range: low-to-mid 20s
Key challenge: calculation + time pressure
English Language
This was the most scoring section.
Topics included:
Reading comprehension
Cloze test
Error detection
Sentence rearrangement / fillers
The level was straightforward, and students who managed time well could score high here.
Safe attempt range: mid-20s
Key advantage: high accuracy possible
Good Attempts & Score Insight (Without Table)
If you attempted around 65 to 75 questions with good accuracy, you were in a strong position.
A score in the range of 55 to 65 marks was considered a safe zone depending on accuracy and normalization.Expected Cut-Off (2026 Trend-Based)
For the General category, the expected cutoff falls roughly in the range of 60 to 68 marks.
OBC candidates slightly lower (mid to high 50s)
SC/ST candidates typically in the low-to-mid 50s
Final cutoff depends heavily on:
Number of vacancies
Difficulty variation across shifts
Overall competition level
Key Observations from 2026 Exam
Quantitative Aptitude was the deciding factor
Reasoning puzzles consumed a lot of time
English was the score booster
Accuracy mattered more than attempts in Quant
Candidates who balanced all three sections performed best
What to Expect in Upcoming OICL AO Prelims
Based on trends, the next exam will most likely:
Follow the same pattern (100 questions, 60 minutes)
Maintain sectional timing
Stay in the easy to moderate range overall
Continue emphasizing:
Puzzles in reasoning
DI in quant
RC + grammar in English
