Numerical Aptitude: Moderate (14-17 attempts); arithmetic and data interpretation were calculation-heavy.
Current Affairs & General Studies: Moderate (10-16 attempts); heavy on 2024-2025 events, static GK (history, polity, geography, science), awards, and sports.
These trends highlight that strong conceptual clarity in Reasoning/English boosts scores, but in-depth current affairs knowledge separates top rankers.
Preparation Insights for Upcoming Tier-2 Descriptive Exam
Tier-2 (50 marks, 1 hour) is qualifying (minimum 33%) yet contributes to merit, comprising an essay (choose 1, ~300-400 words) and English comprehension/précis. Drawing from previous cycles (2023-2024), essay topics typically revolve around national security, technology's impact, socio-economic issues, governance, environment, and current affairs—e.g., "Increasing dependence on technology: boon or bane?", cyber threats, climate change, or India's growth vision.
With just 2 days left and Tier-2 admit cards still not released as of 9 January 2026 (expected today or tomorrow on mha.gov.in), prioritize timed practice: write 2-3 structured essays daily (clear intro-body-conclusion with facts/examples), revise recent editorials, and practice précis/comprehension for clarity and conciseness. Aim for 35-40+ marks by focusing on balanced, factual writing rather than overly complex language.
