Why Choose Course And Required Skills

The aviation industry in India and abroad is booming and it is full of employment opportunities for people who are interested in stepping into the airline sector. One of the biggest advantages of the aviation sector is there is always the right role for every candidate. Owing to its vast nature, people with different types of skills are required to keep the aviation sector functional. Apart from this, there are some more reasons why people choose aviation.

1. Opportunities to travel

People who love to travel can find it very rewarding to be a part of the aviation industry.  For example, flight attendants and pilots have the scope of visiting different countries in a week’s shift. Moreover, there are certain job roles in the aviation industry that are not directly related to flying to various destinations but they enjoy the benefits of discounts on flight fares and various other discounts as airline and airport employees.

2. Coming across new people

In a dynamic and fast paced environment, jobs in the aviation sector means meeting with new people on a daily basis. If you are interested in meeting and interacting with new people everyday, the aviation industry is the perfect sector for you.  People watching at the airport with no two days being the same is a reality in the airports.

3. Development of career

Most businesses have the best interest of the airlines and airport staff in mind and they work for the development of employees by providing them with training and various forms of career development. There are financial schemes available that ensure employee contributions are recognised. Workshops and resources are provided to airline employees with tools that are required to improve their learning and development.

Required Skills

In order to be successful in the field of aviation, there are certain skills that candidates must possess such as:

1. Communication skills

In the aviation industry, there are many job roles such as flight crew, cabin crew and air traffic control that require clear communication skills. The person must be able to ensure that instructions are clearly communicated and understood. There is a constant need for face-to-face communication, the need for a specific language and jargon that is to be done remotely.

2. Analytical thinking

Analytical thinking is needed in aviation jobs that involve manoeuvring and organising aeroplanes. Air traffic controllers are required to possess exceptional analytical skills and spatial awareness for organising aeroplanes when in the air and then minimise any delays on the ground.

3. Interpersonal skills

Since aviation is a service industry, many of these roles need exceptional interpersonal skills. For job roles such as flight attendants, providing great service to all passengers and interacting with them is an essential part of the job.

Airport lounges, shops and restaurants need workers who can ensure that customers and passengers are looked after and offer five-star service to them. Customs and security agents also make use of interpersonal skills to defuse potentially inflammatory situations.

4. Teamwork

In the field of aviation, there is a great deal of teamwork involved specifically with the large organisational frameworks of airports or in the cabin crew where good coordination of large groups of people is the first step to success.

5. Adaptability

Most of the aviation industry functions on the basis of shifts in dynamic environments. Airport workers who work in the retail and baggage or the hospitality staff must be prepared to respond to ever-changing workloads.

Eligibility

The basic eligibility criteria for aviation courses depend on the kind, of course, one wishes to pursue. Certificate courses in aviation can be pursued after class 10 with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry as core subjects. Similarly, PCM in class 12 with a minimum aggregate score of 55% is required to study some diploma courses as well as undergraduate programs.

In order to become an aviator, there are three types of licences that are issued- Student Pilot Licence, Commercial Pilot Licence and Private Pilot Licence. The most basic pilot licence is a student pilot licence and they are not authorised to fly anything. In order to fly an aircraft, students need to apply for a Private Pilot Licence or Commercial Pilot Licence.
