About Course

Material Science and Metallurgic Engineering are core branches of engineering that deal with the study of minerals, their processing and their transformation. The four-year programme comprises various aspects of minerals including their mechanical behaviour, physical metallurgy, thermodynamics, kinetics, etc.

The programme prepares the candidates to deal with the production of various products using different materials and elements be it electrical products, chemical products or simply metals. There are various jobs in this field that are offered by industries that deal with metal production (iron and steel), the production of electronics as well and textiles.

Why Choose Course And Required Skills

There are many reasons to study Metallurgical and Materials Engineering as it opens many doors for students in many industries such as the Telecommunication industry, Microelectronics Industry, Railway Industry, Chemical Laboratories, Automobile Industry, Aircraft and aerospace industry, and Clothing industry. Many reasons why students decide to study B.Tech (Metallurgical And Materials Engineering) Course are listed below:

1. Students get to study all there is to metals and minerals.

2. It is interesting if compared to other engineering specializations.

3. It opens doors to the metallurgical field which is quite diverse in nature and the possibilities for the graduates are endless.

4. Students have the option to opt for a 5-year dual degree program which is being offered by many colleges and universities where students will be awarded both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the end of 5 years.

5. The graduates not only have a bright future in India but also abroad. Metallurgical graduates are in huge demand in the iron and steel industry.

Eligibility

The detailed eligibility criteria to apply for B.Tech materials science and metallurgical engineering admission are as follows -

1. Applicants must be 10+2 qualified from a recognized institute in the Science stream.

2. Applicants must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics compulsorily at the qualifying level.

3. Applicants must have secured at least 50% aggregate marks in their respective qualifying exams.

4. Reserved category candidates can apply with an overall aggregate score of 45%.
