ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
XAT Exam Detailed Eligibility Criteria
1. Educational Qualification
Candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline from a recognized university or institute.
Candidates in their final year of graduation (appearing students) can also apply, provided they complete their final exams by June of the admission year and submit proof within the institute’s deadline.
No minimum percentage of marks in graduation is required (unlike some exams). Even pass-class graduates can apply.
2. Nationality
Indian candidates can apply and take the exam directly.
NRI/Foreign candidates can apply either through XAT or GMAT (GMAT scores accepted by XLRI and other XAT-associated institutes).
3. Age Limit
There is no upper or lower age limit for appearing in XAT. Candidates of any age group with the required qualification are eligible.
4. Work Experience
Work experience is not mandatory to apply for XAT.
However, for some specific programs (like XLRI’s GMP – General Management Program), a minimum of 5 years of managerial/supervisory experience is required as per program guidelines.
5. Number of Attempts
There is no restriction on the number of attempts. A candidate can appear for XAT as many times as they wish, provided they meet the qualification criteria.

BM (Business Management) & HRM (Human Resource Management): Any graduate can apply.

SALIENT FEATURES
The XAT exam is conducted online in English language only, and is divided into two parts. Part I contains approximately 75 MCQs in Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning, Decision Making, and Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, allotted 170 minutes. Part II consists of 20 MCQs in General Knowledge, to be completed in 10 minutes—for a total of 95 questions. Each correct answer awards +1 mark, while wrong answers in Part I attract –0.25 marks; unanswered questions beyond eight consecutively lead to an additional –0.10 penalty. There is no negative marking in the GK section, and its score does not affect the percentile. The selection process includes: clearing the XAT followed by shortlisting, then GD/WAT, and finally a Personal Interview for final admission.

XAVIER APTITUDE TEST (XAT) 2022 EXAM ANALYSIS
XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test) 2022 was conducted successfully on 2nd January 2022 across several centres in the country. XAT 2022 was conducted in a single slot from 9:30 AM- 12:40 PM.
There were a total of 101 questions which included 100 MCQs and 1 Essay question. The essay section was reintroduced in XAT 2022 after XAT 2018.XAT 2022 paper consisted of two time-bound parts. Part 1 -165 minutes and Part 2 - 25 Minutes. There is no negative marking for the General Knowledge questions.
Analysis has been done on the paper which has been recently successfully conducted for XAT on January 2, 2022. This analysis will help all the candidates who have appeared in the exam or all those aspirants who are going to appear for the exam in the future.

XAT 2022 Essay Section Topics
The Essay section consisted of two topics out of which the candidate had to write an essay on any one of the following topics. The word limit was 250 words. In case if the candidate wanted to type more beyond the 250 words the system will not take the input. It is however to be noted that Essay would be evaluated only if the candidate is shortlisted for the interview.

Analysis has been done on the paper which has been recently successfully conducted for XAT on January 3, 2021.
XAT 2021 has been reported a bit more difficult exam with tricky Decision Making and it is expected that XAT cut offs may remain low in view of the difficulty level of the exam.
XAT 2021 Sectional Analysis
Part-I in XAT 2021 had 75 questions divided in three sections which included MCQs. Part-II in XAT 2021 had 25 GK questions. Here is Section wise XAT 2021 Exam Analysis:
Verbal and Logical Ability
1- There were a total of 26 questions in the XAT VA section.
2- Similar to Last year Question paper.
3- The Section had 17 Reading Comprehension questions based on 6 RC passages and one poem.
4- The poem was a short one as was last year, but was abstract.
5- The six passages were of 150 - 350 words each.
6- The section had 9 Verbal Ability/Reasoning questions.
7- The Verbal ability and Verbal Reasoning questions were based on grammar, vocabulary, reasoning including Critical Reasoning and Jumbled Paragraphs.
8- RC Passages were of medium to high difficulty level.
9- Almost all the questions were inferential and application-based.
10- The options were close and the directions emphasised to choose the best option among them.

STUDY PLAN
The Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) is a national-level MBA entrance exam conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur. It consists of three parts: Part 1 includes Verbal and Logical Ability, Decision Making, and Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation; Part 2 is a 5-minute keyboard typing section for an Essay; Part 3 has General Knowledge questions. The XAT exam is conducted in two parts – Paper I and Paper II. Paper I includes Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning, Decision Making, and Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation with around 75 multiple-choice questions to be solved in 175 minutes, carrying negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To appear for XAT, candidates must meet the required academic qualifications. There is no upper age limit for applying, and candidates from India as well as foreign/NRI applicants are eligible under specified conditions.
Nationality – Indian citizens can apply directly through XAT, while NRI and foreign candidates may apply using their GMAT scores (except for Dubai and Kathmandu test centers where XAT is accepted).
Education – Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree of at least 3 years duration in any discipline from a recognized university. Students in their final year of graduation are also eligible, provided they complete their degree by the specified timeline.
Age – There is no age limit for applying to XAT.
SELECTION PROCESS

SALIENT FEATURES
The XAT exam is conducted online in English language only, and is divided into two parts. Part I contains approximately 75 MCQs in Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning, Decision Making, and Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, allotted 170 minutes. Part II consists of 20 MCQs in General Knowledge, to be completed in 10 minutes—for a total of 95 questions. Each correct answer awards +1 mark, while wrong answers in Part I attract –0.25 marks; unanswered questions beyond eight consecutively lead to an additional –0.10 penalty. There is no negative marking in the GK section, and its score does not affect the percentile. The selection process includes: clearing the XAT followed by shortlisting, then GD/WAT, and finally a Personal Interview for final admission.

EXAM PATTERN
The XAT exam is conducted in two parts – Paper I and Paper II. Paper I includes Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning, Decision Making, and Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation with around 75 multiple-choice questions to be solved in 175 minutes, carrying negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer. Paper II consists of General Knowledge (25 questions) and an Essay Writing task, to be attempted in 30 minutes, with no negative marking. In total, the exam has about 100 questions and 1 essay to be completed in 3 hours 10 minutes.

EXAM SYLLABUS
The XAT syllabus broadly covers five areas. The Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning section tests reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, critical reasoning, and para-based questions. The Decision Making section presents caselets and real-life situations to assess ethical judgment, analytical ability, and problem-solving. The Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation part includes arithmetic, algebra, geometry, number systems, modern mathematics, and interpretation of data through tables, charts, and graphs. The General Knowledge section checks awareness of current affairs, business, economy, history, geography, polity, and other static topics. Lastly, the Essay Writing task evaluates a candidate’s ability to structure thoughts and arguments clearly on abstract, social, or business-related topics.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
To appear for XAT, candidates must meet the required academic qualifications. There is no upper age limit for applying, and candidates from India as well as foreign/NRI applicants are eligible under specified conditions.
Nationality – Indian citizens can apply directly through XAT, while NRI and foreign candidates may apply using their GMAT scores (except for Dubai and Kathmandu test centers where XAT is accepted).
Education – Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree of at least 3 years duration in any discipline from a recognized university. Students in their final year of graduation are also eligible, provided they complete their degree by the specified timeline.
Age – There is no age limit for applying to XAT.
SELECTION PROCESS

ADMIT CARD
The XAT admit card is released online on the official website for all registered candidates. It must be downloaded and carried to the exam center as no hard copy is sent by post.
