About Career 

As a Sales Service & Repair Technician, you will be responsible for providing on-site customer service and sales support for electrical appliances and gadgets. On-site installation, maintenance, repair, system improvement, and testing are the primary duties of a Sales Service & Repair Technician. Apart from repairing electrical appliances, you may also be required to provide customers with proper usage tips and instructions on how to use various electrical gadgets and appliances.

Your aim will be to boost after sales service success and enhance customer satisfaction. This is a very important aspect of your job as a Sales Service & Repair Technician since it can maximize customer retention while increasing profits. 

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Provide quality customer support and service during product sales or field visits.

2. Identify and diagnose technical problems and find solutions to them.

3. Understand customer grievances and requirements and offer briefing/services accordingly.

4. Handle multiple responsibilities on-site including installation, maintenance, test, and repair tasks.

5. Collect and respond to customer inquiries, explain product function, and resolve issues.

6. Collaborate with the technical team and share relevant information across the organization.

7. Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers.

Career Entry Pathway 

Class 10 all subjects as per scheme of studies - ITI course in Mechanic Consumer Electronics/Electronic Mechanic/Mechanic (Electrical Domestic Appliances)/Similar other courses.

After class 10, you can choose to do an ITI course in Mechanic Consumer Electronics/Electronic Mechanic/Mechanic (Electrical Domestic Appliances)/Mechanic (Domestic, Commercial Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Machines)/Mechanic (DTH and other Communication System)/Mechanic (Refrigeration and Air-Conditioner)/Mechanic Consumer Electronics Appliances/Mechanic Radio and T.V./Mechanic Radio, Audio, Video System and Appliances or any other similar courses from a vocational training institute.

Required Qualification & Competencies 

Undergraduate studies after school:

After your Class 10, you can choose from a wide variety of ITI courses such as Mechanic Consumer Electronics/Electronic Mechanic/Mechanic (Electronic Domestic Appliances)/Mechanic (Domestic, Commercial Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Machines)/Mechanic (DTH and other Communication System)/Mechanic (Refrigeration and Air-Conditioner)/Mechanic Consumer Electronics Appliances/Mechanic Radio and T.V., or Mechanic Radio, Audio, Video System and Appliances. If you obtain an ITI degree in any one of these courses, it is enough to bag entry-level jobs as a Sales Service & Repair Technician.

1. Equipment Maintenance - be proficient in equipment routine maintenance tasks and be able to determine when and what kind of maintenance procedure is required.

2. Repairing - be able to repair electrical appliances/systems using the right tool combination.

3. Troubleshooting - be able to identify the root cause of problems and fix them.

4.Critical Thinking - be able to find alternative solutions to problems using logic and reasoning.

5. Equipment Selection - be able to decide what tools are required for handling specific tasks. 

6. Installation - be able to install electrical appliances/gadgets/systems.

7. Quality Control Analysis - be able to conduct quality tests and inspections to assess the performance of electrical products.

Work Environment

Sales Service & Repair Technicians are required to perform a lot of fieldwork. So, the job entails that you travel frequently to customer locations and repair appliances. Working hours are not fixed and you may be required to work on early mornings or late nights, and even on weekends.

Career Growth

Growth opportunities are limited in this trade. However, once you gain enough industry experience, you can get promoted to senior-level administrative roles as that of a Senior Supervisor or Senior Repair Technician.

Salary Offered  

1. At the beginning of your career, you can expect to earn about Rs. 8,000 - 13,000 per month.

2. After you’ve gained 2-5 years of experience, you may earn about Rs. 10,000 - 17,000 per month.

3. After 6-12 years of experience, you can expect to earn about Rs. 12,000 - 20,000 or more per month.

4. With over 15 years of experience, your average monthly salary will range anywhere between Rs. 15,000 - 30,000.
