About Career
As a CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) Installation Technician, you have to ensure successful installation of the CCTV for proper video coverage. You will design the system set up after communicating with customers to know their needs. You may have to do site surveys before planning the installation. You need to be updated about the latest CCTV-related products available in the market.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
As a CCTV Installation Technician, you will be engaged with one or more of the following roles and responsibilities: -
1. Installing, maintaining or repairing CCTV or related equipment, following blueprints of building plans and electrical layouts.
2. Inspecting installation sites and studying work orders, building plans or manuals to determine the kind of materials required for the installation.
3. Mounting and fixing control panels and CCTV parts.
4. Attaching electrical and network wiring to connect CCTV components.
5. Testing and repairing circuits and sensors.
6. Drilling holes for wiring and passing cables through roof spaces, access holes or cavity walls to connect the CCTV cameras.
7. Examining systems for locating problems like short circuits or loose connections.
8. Demonstrating the use and benefits of CCTV systems to customers and explaining the details to them.

Career Entry Pathway
Class 10 all subjects as per scheme of studies –training at an ITI or similar institute in ‘Mechanic Consumer Electronics’ or ‘Mechanic Consumer Electronic Appliances’ or ‘Mechanic General Electronics’ or ‘Mechanic-Cum-Operator-Electronic-Communication-Systems’ trade or any similar course.

After Class 10 from a recognized school board), you need to undergo training at an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) or similar institute in ‘Mechanic Consumer Electronics’ or ‘Mechanic Consumer Electronic Appliances’ or ‘Mechanic General Electronics ‘or ‘Mechanic-Cum-Operator-Electronic-Communication-Systems ‘trade or any similar course. After completing this training you will sit for All India Trade Test (AITT) and you will get a National Trade Certificate (NTC) if you pass.

After Class 10, you need to undergo training at an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) or similar institute in ‘Mechanic-Communication-Equipment-Maintenance’ or ‘Mechanic-Radio-Television’ trade or any similar course. After completing this training you will sit for All India Trade Test (AITT) and you will get a National Trade Certificate (NTC) if you pass.

After Class 10, you need to undergo training at an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) or similar institute in ‘Mechanic Consumer Electronics’ or ‘Mechanic Consumer Electronic Appliances’ or ‘Mechanic General Electronics’ or ‘Mechanic-Cum-Operator-Electronic-Communication-Systems’ or similar courses. Then you can pursue National Skill Qualifications Framework (NSQF) Level 4 Training and Certificate for ‘CCTV Installation Technician’ or similar courses. The total number of training hours is 200 including Basic and On-Job-Training (OJT). For this course, the entry qualifications are 12th Pass / ITI / Diploma.

After Class 10, you need to do a Diploma in Electrical or Electronics / Consumer Electronics / Surveillance Electronics or related disciplines in Polytechnic or similar institutes. Then you can pursue National Skill Qualifications Framework (NSQF) Level 4 Training and Certificate for ‘CCTV Installation Technician’ or similar courses. The total number of training hours is 200 including Basic and On-Job-Training (OJT). For this course, the entry qualifications are 12th Pass / ITI / Diploma.
After Class 12, you can pursue the National Skill Qualifications Framework (NSQF) Level 4 Training and Certificate for ‘CCTV Installation Technician’ or similar courses.
