Future Prospects

The UPSC examinations are the toughest examination with an increasing number of applicants each year while civil services vacancies have remained stagnant or gone down in recent years due to limited intake and training capacity. As such, the future prospects indicate that there will not be any significant growth in employment for the Indian Civil Services. However, this does not mean that there isn’t a demand for competent officers. The Railway services are currently short-staffed and expansion is hindered due to this. If future governments can manage to fix the bottleneck then available vacancies can increase.
