About Career
As an Architecture Assistant, you will work with professional Architects to prepare detailed architectural drawings of residential buildings, shopping malls, commercial buildings, temples, and other structures. You may also prepare detailed drawings of interiors, furniture, landscape, and exhibitions as per the requirements of the Architect that you will be working with.
You will prepare detailed drawings from sketches, illustrations, designs, and various other specifications given by the Architect and as per the various requirements under laws, rules, and regulations governing the construction.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
1. You will be using software like 3D Max or SketchUp for preparing models of the architectural design of buildings, interiors, and other structures as per the requirement of the Architect and the clients.
2. You will be using software like AutoCAD (CAD stands for Computer Aided Design), Autodesk Revit, SketchUp, etc. for developing detailed drawings.
3. Analyze various laws, rules, and regulations governing construction; understand space and site requirements; understand other technical specifications and reports to determine how these should be applied to architectural drawings.
4. Draw rough and detailed scale plans for foundations, buildings, and structures, based on preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets, and other data.
5. Assist architectural teams in dimensional surveys of buildings.
6. Apply survey notes in architectural drawings with precise specifications.
7. Interact with clients to implement their plans and goals in architectural project drawings.
8. Maintain all architectural drawings, plans, client specifications, and survey notes in an organized manner.

After Class 10, you can go for ITI courses in Architecture Assistant / Architectural Draughtsmanship.
After Class 12, do a Diploma in Architecture.
After Class 12, do an ITI course in Architecture.
Required Qualification & Competencies
After you pass Class 10, you can enroll for either a Diploma in Architecture or an ITI course in Architecture Assistant / Architectural draughtsmanship. You may also find an opportunity to enroll in an Apprenticeship Training in Architectural Assistant under the Government of India.

Career Growth
There are not many career growth opportunities except that you may become a Senior Architectural Draughtsman and then rise to a Design Supervisor level. However, depending on your skills in using different architectural design software, you may get better work.
Salary Offered
1. At the beginning of your career, you will earn about Rs. 5,000 - 15,000 a month depending upon the company/firm where you are getting the job. Large companies pay you higher.
2. After 2-6 years of experience, you may earn about Rs. 15,000 - 28,000 or more per month.
3. After 7-12 years of experience, you may earn about Rs. 20,000 - 40,000 a month and after 15+ years of experience, you may earn about Rs. 25,000 - 60,000 a month or even more.
