Marking Scheme
Correct Answer
1 mark
Negative Marking
No negative marking
The absence of negative marking allows students to attempt all questions without penalty.
Subject Coverage
The exam mainly tests core engineering subjects related to the chosen M.Tech specialization.
Examples include:
Computer Science Engineering
Data structures, algorithms, operating systems, computer networks
Electronics and Communication
Digital electronics, signals, communication systems
Mechanical Engineering
Thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, machine design
Civil Engineering
Structural analysis, geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering
Additionally, basic mathematics questions are included for most programs, except a few specialized streams.
Difficulty Level of the Previous Exam
Based on student feedback and exam analysis, the overall difficulty level was moderate.
Engineering subject questions were conceptual and application-based rather than purely theoretical.
Mathematics questions were mostly basic engineering mathematics.
Compared with national PG exams such as GATE, the difficulty level was generally easier.
Good Attempts in the Previous Exam
Because there is no negative marking, most candidates attempt almost all questions.
Average good attempts
80 to 90 questions
Candidates with high accuracy above 80 percent generally receive competitive ranks.
Expected Cutoff Trends
The university does not release an official cutoff, but admission trends suggest:
Top specializations (Computer Science, AI, Data Science)
Higher ranks required.
Core branches (Mechanical, Civil, Chemical)
Moderate ranks generally sufficient.
Candidates with GATE scores may receive preference or direct admission consideration in some programs.
Selection Process
The admission process for SRMJEEE PG 2026 usually includes:
1 Application submission
2 Slot booking for exam
3 Online entrance test
4 Result declaration
5 Counselling and seat allocation based on merit.
During counselling, candidates can select campus, program, and specialization based on their rank and seat availability.
Expectations for SRMJEEE M.Tech 2026
The exam structure is expected to remain similar to previous years.
Key expectations for the 2026 exam include:
Focus on core engineering fundamentals
Moderate difficulty level compared to national PG exams

Study Tips
STUDY TIPS
The only deciding factor for the selection or rejection of a candidate is the Strategy & Planning which is used by them for their preparation for the SRMJEEE Examination. A good and result-oriented Strategy & Planning for the examination will definitely allow the candidates to make their way through SRMJEEE Examination.
We have some important tips that students may use to boost their study plan.
1- Proper Time Table : It is very important that candidates make a timetable and follow it regularly for the preparation of SRMJEEE exam. By creating a timetable, candidates will have an exact idea of what they are required to study and the time required for it.
2- Know Exam Pattern & Syllabus : It is extremely crucial to be completely aware of the exam syllabus and paper pattern prior to commencing the exam preparation. By getting a comprehensive understanding of these two things, half the job is done as candidates would know what all topics they have to cover to complete the syllabus, and what all measures they have to take while appearing for the exam.
3- Making Notes : It is very important to make small notes or a comprehensive list of formulas on each covered topic and chapter, which will help at the time of revision. Preparing notes will make candidates' lives a lot easier during revision. With the help of notes, it will not take too much time to revise the syllabus again.
4- Revision of Class XI & XII Basic Concepts : Aspirants should have complete clarity of the basic concepts from Class 10 and 12 syllabus. Most of the undergraduate engineering exams require candidates to be thorough with the 10+2 syllabus.
5- Sample Papers : Sample papers are one of the most important tools during exam preparation. Even if there is a small change in the exam pattern, sample papers and previous years' question papers at least give candidates a fair idea of what kind of questions to expect in the exam, time limit and marks allocated per question.
6- Mock Tests : A Mock Test is an effective tool to test a student’s abilities as it not only provides a similar feel of real exams but also helps in building speed and confidence to face the actual exam.

CUTOFFS & COUNSELLING PROCESS
Admissions for M.Tech (ME) programs are merit-based through:
SRMJEEE (PG) ranks (main route, conducted in phases),
Valid GATE scores (preferred, often given weightage or direct admission/shortlisting),
Sometimes followed by an interview.
These are estimated ranges for the main Kattankulathur (Chennai) campus — the most competitive. Other campuses (Ramapuram, Vadapalani, NCR/Ghaziabad, etc.) have significantly higher (easier) closing ranks.
Highly competitive branches (e.g., Data Science, AI & ML, Computer Science related, VLSI Design):
Closing ranks often under 100–500 for top choices; safe under 1,000.
Moderately competitive (e.g., Embedded Systems, Structural Engineering, Thermal, Power Systems):
Closing ranks 500–2,000+.
Less competitive/core/traditional branches (e.g., Mechanical, Civil, Environmental, Biotechnology):
Often close at 2,000–6,000+ or even higher in later phases.
Counselling process
The institute conducts counselling for aspirants for SRMJEEE qualified candidates seeking admission. Students will participate in SRMJEEE counselling according to a schedule that will be given after the results are announced. Students must be physically present at the institute on the scheduled date and time for SRMJEEE counselling. Students will be allotted seats depending on their admission examination results, selected branch and campus, and seat availability. Here are some documents that may be required for verification:
1- Counselling call letter issued to the candidate
