EXAM SYLLABUS
The exam conducting authority i.e Cochin University of Science and Technology does not release any syllabus for CUSAT CAT officially. However, the CUSAT CAT syllabus will be based on the 12th state board syllabus. It is important for all applicants to check the syllabus of CUSAT CAT to prepare for the examination. All of the sections and topics from which the examination questions will be created will be based on the syllabus.

EXAM PATTERN
Candidates should review the CUSAT CAT 2026 exam pattern for all the programmes offered to understand the types of questions, total number of questions, marking scheme, and other important details related to the examination format.
Common Features Across Most Tests
Mode: Online Computer-Based Test (CBT)
Question Type: Objective Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
Marking Scheme: +3 marks for each correct answer; -1 mark for each incorrect answer (negative marking); 0 marks for unattempted questions
Medium: English
No separate sections for aptitude unless specified; questions are subject-based
Program Wise Exam Pattern
B.Tech
The test comprises of 250 objective type multiple choice questions based on Plus Two syllabus. Out of these 250 questions, 125 will be from Mathematics, 75 from Physics, and 50 from Chemistry. The duration of the test will be three hours.
Please Note: The test will be conducted in such manner that the Physics section will be conducted first (60 Minutes) and then Chemistry section (30 Minutes). The test for Mathematics will be conducted next (90 Minutes) as third section.

Eligibility
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Candidates willing to apply for CUSAT CAT Examination are required to fulfil certain conditions to be eligible for it. The candidate who does not satisfy the Eligibility criteria like Age, Minimum educational qualification etc., their candidature shall be rejected by the authorities. The candidate’s eligibility for CUSAT CAT Examination is based on the fulfilment of the following conditions:-

2. Age Limit & Relaxations
3. Educational Qualifications
Nationality
1. Applicant must be an Indian citizen.
2. Also, applicants from Kerala, applying within the state quota must submit domicile documents to confirm the same.
3. For the rest of the programmes, foreign candidates can also apply. They will need to share NRI documents in order to apply for the same.
4. Any Indian Citizen /Overseas Citizen of India /Person of Indian Origin is eligible to apply for NRI seats.
Age Limit
1. The examination conducting authority has given an age limit for some specific programmes.
2. For those applicants applying for B.Tech Marine Engineering Programme, the maximum age limit is 25 years as of September of the current year.
Education Qualification
B.Tech in Marine Engineering
1. Secured 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in the Class 12 or equivalent from Kerala Board or any other recognized Board.
2. Studied in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English in the qualifying examination.
3. Secured minimum 50% in the English subject either in Class 10 or in Class 12 (applicable to all the categories).
4. Candidates have to submit physical fitness and eye fitness certificate as well. The certificate should be obtained from Medical Examiners and approved by DG Shipping.
B.Tech in Naval Architecture & Ship Building
1. Scored 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in the Class 12 examination or equivalent from Kerala Board or any other recognized Board.
2. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics should be the compulsory subjects along with the other subjects in the qualifying examination.
3. Obtain 50% in the Mathematics subject.
4. Must have scored 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics when taken together.
B.Tech in Instrumentation & Technology
1. Obtained 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics when taken together in the qualifying examination.
2. Obtain 55% in the Mathematics subject.
B.Tech in Polymer Science & Engineering
1. Passed Class 12 with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry as an optional subject or any other equivalent examination with 50% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from a recognized Board.
2. Secured 50% in the Mathematics subject.
BBA LLB (H) and B.Com LLB (Hons)
1. The applicants must have completed their 12th standard examinations with 60% for the science group.
2. Those who are from the commerce/ humanities/ arts stream must have at least 55% of marks for the 10+2 examination.
3. They must have finished their 10 plus two examinations from a recognised Board of Education.
4. Those from the SC/ ST or SEBC communities must have a minimum of 50% marks in 10+2.
B.Sc LLB (Hons) [Computer Science]
1. The student must have accomplished 10+2 with 50% marks.
2. He must have had Mathematics/ Computer Science as one of the subjects in 10+2.
3. Please note that applicants from the General Category must have obtained 65% marks in 12th standard.
4. For those from the SC/ST /SEBC communities, the relaxation will be determined by the university.
LLB
1. The individual must have passed the graduation with 50% marks in the aggregate in any stream from a university recognised by the Cochin University of Science and Technology.
2. Those from the SC / ST / SEBC categories have to achieve at least 45% in their last qualifying degree examination.
3. Students who are yet to receive their results may also apply. However, they have to produce their mark lists at the time of counselling, or else their candidature will be cancelled.
LLM
1. Students must have passed a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from any approved university in Kerala or any similar qualification with at least 50% or similar CGPA grade. They also must have secured rank in the Common Admission Test organised by the university.
2. SC/ ST applicants will have a concession for marks in the qualifying examination as per government policies.
B.Voc in Business Process and Data Analytics
1. Students must pass the 10+2/ Higher Secondary Examination organised by the Board of Higher Secondary Examinations, Government of Kerala or an equivalent examination with Mathematics / Economics/ Statistics as one of the Subjects.
2. They must have secured a minimum of 50% in the examination.
3. Those belonging to Kerala Scheduled Caste (KSC) and Kerala Scheduled Tribe (KST) communities are qualified to apply if they have minimum pass marks in the last qualifying examination.
5-Year M.Sc Integrated Programmes
1. M.Sc Biological Sciences - A minimum of 50% in the 10+2/ Higher Secondary Examination/ qualifying examination from a recognised Board of Education with subjects such as Biology, Physics and Chemistry.
2. M.Sc Chemistry, M.Sc Mathematics, M.Sc Physics, M.Sc Statistics, M.Sc Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence & Data Science) - At least 50% in the 12th standard from Board of Higher Secondary Examinations, Government of Kerala/ Central Board of Secondary Education etc., with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry as subjects.
MBA - Full Time
1. Completed Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks or similar CGPA grade.
2. The applicants belonging to the Kerala Scheduled Caste (KSC) and Kerala Scheduled Tribe (KST) can apply with minimum pass marks in the last qualifying examination.
3. SEBC category students of Kerala certified as non-creamy layer will get 5% relaxation in the marks of the last qualifying degree.
Reservation Policy
State Merit Seats (SM): Out of the total approved seats of Self-financing B Tech Programmes 50% are earmarked as State Merit Seats with lower rate of fees.
All India Merit Seats (AIM): Out of the total approved seats of Self-financing B Tech Programmes 45% seats are earmarked as All India Merit Seats with higher rate of fees. Both Keralite and NonKeralite candidates can opt for AI

All India Quota (AIQ): For the regular B Tech Programmes viz. B Tech in (Naval Architecture and Ship Building), B Tech (Instrumentation and Control Engineering) and B Tech (Polymer Science and Engineering) and for all programmes other than self-financing B Tech Programmes 10% of the total approved seats are earmarked as All India Quota. Both Keralites and Non-Keralites are eligible to be considered against AIQ.
The candidates are suggested to take a quick look at the CUSAT CAT 2024 reservation policy:
1. A certain percentage of the total seats will be reserved for candidates belonging to the SC/ST and economically deprived categories and are from Kerala (Communal Reservation Quota Seats)
2. Few seats will be reserved for CUSAT CAT applicants
3. Seats are reserved for blind candidates only in LLM courses and M.A Hindi
4. Total seats of 3% is reserved for those candidates who are suffering from a disability (only candidates with a minimum of 40% disability will be considered except for Mechanical and Marine Engineering courses)
5. 50% of the total seats in MBA is reserved for those candidates who possess work experience of 3 years or more on paper
6. 50% of the total seats in M.Phil is reserved for those candidates who have teaching experience of 2 years or more
7. A few seats are reserved for candidates from Lakshadweep (Lakshadweep Administration Sponsorship Quota)
8. MCA applicants with 3 years or more experience in the related field and sponsored by Government and Research Institute can apply for admission into one of the 2 seats reserved for them (the applicant must be less than 30 years of age)
9. 3 seats are reserved in the M.Sc Industrial Fishery programme for the Fisheries Development Department staff
10. 2 seats are reserved in the Oceanographic programme

HOW TO APPLY
The application process is online. Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria can only fill out the application form. The application process involves several steps, such as registration, completing the application form, uploading the required documents, and paying the fee.

3. Scanned copy of candidate's signature.

Steps to fill exam online Application Form
1. Go to the official website of CUSAT
2. Click on the career option and then click on Apply Online.
3. Choose the option stating "Click here for New Registration" and fill in your name and contact details.
4. A registration ID and password will be created and displayed on the screen. An email and SMS will be sent to their registered email address and their mobile number.
5. Check the information if it is filled correctly or not and then click on the “Submit Button”
6. Upload the scanned copy of the photograph and signature. Size of documents are mentioned below:

7. Select Course Candidates should select the programme or combination of programmes from the dropdown list with utmost care in the CUSAT application form . Now proceed for the final payment. The payment can be made by using Debit Cards (RuPay/Visa/MasterCard/Maestro), Credit Cards, Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards/ Mobile Wallets. On successful completion of the transaction, an e-receipt will be generated. And click on the submit button.

8. Centre selection After successful completion of payment, the list of available centres will be displayed. The candidate should select one of the test centres where seats are available. Take out the printout for future purposes.
EXAM CENTERS
CUSAT CAT 2026 exam centres are mainly spread across Kerala, with key locations including Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, and several other districts. In addition, a few centres are available in Lakshadweep and select cities outside the state. The candidates after the successful completion of the registration process will be able to download the CUSAT CAT 2026 Admit Card from the university website. Candidates need to follow the steps to download admit card of CUSAT 2026 exam:
1. Visit the official website of CUSAT
2. Click on the ‘Careers’ link given under the ‘Miscellaneous’ section at the bottom.
3. Click on the CUSAT Admit card link.
4. Login with your registration ID and password.
5. Download the CUSAT admit card.
6. Take two print out of the CUSAT admit card for future reference.
EXAM RESULT
The CUSAT CAT 2026 result will be declared by Cochin University of Science and Technology on its official website, admissions.cusat.ac.in. To access and download the result, candidates must log in using their registered ID and password.
