Dholpur is the eastern most district of Rajasthan, situated near the perennially flowing Chambal river. It is present in the mid way of two big cities Agra and Gwalior. Govt. College is the only college for the enhancement of higher education in Dholpur district.  It was founded in 1961 at the Tiwari Bagh Campus.  At the beginning, only the graduation classes in Art’s and Commerce were available here. At that time the students had to join either.Agra University, Agra or the Jiwaji University Gwalior to pursue higher studies. Gradually, in 1967, graduation course in science in 1974, graduation course in Law in 1984, M.A. in History and in 1989 M.A. in Economics were introduced. Under the SFS (Self Financing Scheme) since in the year 2009 M.Sc. in Chemistry , M.A. Political Science, Geography, Hindi and keeping in view the concept of modernization and professionalization, B.B.A. and B.C.A. course were introduced under Self Financing Scheme.
