Bharath Education Society was registered under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act 1960 (Karnataka Act 17 of 1960) during the year 1971, with the sole object of establishing schools, Colleges and hostels in the state of Karnataka and to introduce possible improvements in the system of education from time to time. The administration affairs of the society are vested with the Managing Committee consisting of persons with administrative efficiency and experience from all walks of life.

On the recommendation of the Government of Karnataka, the Bangalore University has accorded sanction of affiliation to start 5 years LLB course by the society from the academic year 1998-99 and the same has been recognized by the Bar Council of India.

BES College of Law has also commenced the 3 year LLB course from the academic year 2006-2007 and the same has been recognized by the Bar council of India, New Delhi. Now the Karnataka State Law University has taken over the Law College from the academic year 2009-10 onwards.
