The D.A.V College Trust and Management Society renamed as Dayanand Shiksha Sansthan, U.P., Kanpur was Established in 1982 in the U.P. in memory of Swami Dayanand Saraswati, one of the architects of modern India. He stood for the revival and propagation of Vedic Dharma in its pristine purity, giving mankind on the incentive to mould a way of life, sublime and noble. With the prime object of ameliorating, spiritual and, social conditions of all men without any distinction of caste, the colour or creed. This was to be achieved through the vital task of dispelling ignorance and promoting knowledge.

In 1919 the then society with Rai Bahadur Babau Anand Swarup and Munsi Jwala Prasad, Sri Brijendra Swarup as President, Secretary and Joint Secretary respectively founded the D.A.V. college at Kanpur. Prior July 1958, D.V.A. College, Kanpur conducted the teaching of the classes, in Law, as its own Department, which was given over to his college on its formation in the year 1958, with the effort of Dr Virendra Swarup, the then President of the D.A.V. College Trust and Management Society, Dayanand College of Law, was started in 1958, as the only institution of its type exclusively devoted to the teaching of Law in all its implication.
