Description
Due to the extreme cold, dense fog, and severe cold weather, schools in Lucknow and Agra are closed for students in class 1 through 8. The District Magistrates have issued an order to close schools in Lucknow until January 27, 2024, and in Agra until January 24, 2024.
The Lucknow DM's order also asked all schools from preschool to class 12 to close and operate online. Instructions have also been given to closely adhere to this directive. On the other hand, the District Magistrate of Agra has announced that schools from nursery to class 8 will stay closed till January 24, 2024. The timings for classes 9 through 12 have also modified. The aforementioned classes will be held in Agra between 10.30 am and 3.30 pm.

To reduce the impact of cold weather and extended breaks on students' education, the District Magistrate has directed schools to offer online classes. The requirement to wear school uniforms has also been removed. Students can wear warm clothes to school.
School principals and heads have also been instructed to install heaters to control classroom temperatures. Furthermore, under no circumstances should children be forced to sit in open fields for pre-board and practical exams.
Lucknow's schools up to class 8 will close on December 28, 2024. The weather started to deteriorate in the beginning of January. Despite the terrible weather, parents and students were looking forward to the prolonged holiday. The latest notice by the District Magistrate will bring minor relief to schools, students and parents.
